FAQs

What is Positive Reinforcement Training?

Positive Reinforcement Training uses a reward for desired behaviors. For example: treats, toys, praise or love. Rewards make your dog more likely to repeat the behavior you want and it makes training a breeze.

How far do you travel for training and where do you offer training?

I offer training in client’s homes and at local parks. I travel within a 30 mile radius of Lufkin, Texas. For classes outside of the 10 mile radius, I charge an additional rate (contact me for more details).

What dog training equipment do you use when training a dog or recommend I use?

During training I recommend using flat or buckle collars. I also like to use front pull harnesses as a training aid for loose leash walking. I do not use or recommend the use of e collars, prong collars or chain (pop) collars.

Will my dog always be dependent on training treats?

I love using treats to teach new commands but by the end of our training course I will teach you how to wean your dog off of the treats so they will be able to do their commands without them.

Do you train dogs of any breed, age and size?

YES! I love working with all kinds of dogs, no matter their breed, age or size. Any and all dogs will benefit from training.

What are the advantages of private in-home training?

Private training can be customized to your needs. We can better control any distractions so you and your dog can concentrate on the task at hand. This option also fits your schedule.

Can you guarantee the training will stick?

If you are consistent with your training, follow your trainer’s instructions and keep training fun and positive, I guarantee you will see a positive change in your dog’s behavior.
